The Croydon Junior Band was established in late 1999 as a forum for young musicians in the local and surrounding community to get into music.
It caters for beginners who have little opportunity to participate in an ensemble environment.
Its members are made up of those up to the age of twelve or thirteen or those who have only just begun their musical tuition.
The band is the brainchild of one of our hard working Musical Directors, Ken McColm.
The Musical Director
The Musical Director is Ken McColm. Ken teaches music at Bimbadeen Heights Primary School and works tirelessly for the band and its members. Ken also conducts the Croydon Variety Band and Brass Band.
In days past Ken was a member of the Staffband of the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers in the U.K.. He has now been conducting the Brass and Variety Bands for four years.
